Bon di! My name is Rosie and I am the English language assistant for the academic year 2020/21. I’m 22 years old and come from Leeds in Northern England, although I grew up in the South of England. Having studied German and Italian at university, as well as having lived and worked in Austria and Italy during my degree, I knew that I wanted to live in South Tyrol, where I could use both languages in my everyday life.
Therefore, I was really happy when I found out that I would be working in Ortisei – not just because of the beautiful scenery, but also because of its multilingual and multicultural nature. It really seems like the cultural heart of the region! As someone who is passionate about different languages and cultures, I am looking forward to discovering more about Ladin culture and traditions over the course of this year, as well as wanting to improve my Südtirolerisch!
I am really impressed by the language skills of the students, as well as their enthusiasm and motivation to learn. I enjoy teaching them about different aspects of British culture, festivals and traditions and am looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store!
